Description
Seven Top Turnips are a unique because they do not grow large enough roots to eat. This allows the plant to focus all of its energy on vigorously producing a leafy abundance above the soil. Greens can be harvested from the plant throughout the season.
Turnips have two growing seasons in Georgia. The Spring Season Crop, where Turnips are started in Winter/Early Spring and harvested into the Late Spring and Early Summer. The Fall Season Crop, where Turnips are started in Summer/Late Summer and harvested into the Early Winter.
Expect plants to reach a height of about 1 foot and a width of up to 2 feet. When harvesting Turnips Greens, make sure not to harvest any more than 1/3 of the plant at one time.
