Description

Collards have two growing seasons in Georgia; The Spring and Fall Crops. During the Spring Season Collards are started in Late Winter/Early Spring and harvested into the Late Spring and Early Summer. The Fall Season, where Collards are started in Summer/Late Summer and harvested into the Early Winter.

The best Collards are grown in Georgia! It just so happens that this heirloom variety of Collards is called, “Georgia Collards”. They’re super easy to grow to grow in our Goober State and will never let you down. Georgia Collards are slow-bolting, which means that they’re heat-tolerant.

Collards have been a staple in the human diet for thousands of years. They were a favorite food of Ancient Greeks and Africans! When leaves are young and tender, they can be eaten raw. The most delicious way to enjoy Collards is cooked in a soup, stew, or into the Southern Classic known as “Collards”.

Crisp and tender, Collards are nutritious and delicious. A SUPERFOOD, Collards are loaded with nutrients. Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate, Calcium, and much more!

Expect Georgia Collards Plants to reach a height of 2 to 3 feet. When harvesting Collards, make sure not to harvest any more than 1/3 of the plant at one time. This will keep the plant stress-free, vibrant, and vigorously growing. Collards thrive between the temperatures of 40 degrees and 80 degrees. It is frost tolerant, surviving temperatures as low as 25 degrees.
