Description

The Copenhagen Market Cabbage, also known as Danish Ballhead Cabbage, originated in Denmark and gained popularity in the late 19th century. It quickly found its way to the United States and became a staple in American gardens due to its compact, round heads and excellent keeping qualities. This heirloom cabbage variety has stood the test of time, remains a favorite among gardeners for its flavor, and its reliable performance. Expect round heads that weigh 6 to 8 pounds, a plant height of 12″ to 15″, and average plant diameter of 22″. Harvest leaves starting from the outside, throughout the season. Harvest full head once mature.

Cabbage has two growing seasons in Georgia. The Spring Season, where Cabbage is started in Late Winter/Early Spring and harvested into the Late Spring and Early Summer. The Fall Season, where Cabbage is started in Summer/Late Summer and harvested into the Early Winter.

Cabbage thrives between the temperatures of 40 degrees and 75 degrees. It is frost tolerant, surviving temperatures as low as 25 degrees.

Growing Recommendation:
