Description

Kale has two growing seasons in Georgia; The Spring and Fall Crops. During the Spring Season Kale is started in Late Winter/Early Spring and harvested into the Late Spring and Early Summer. The Fall Season, where Kale is started in Summer/Late Summer and harvested into the Early Winter.

Lacinato, also known as “Dinosaur Kale”, is an old Italian Heirloom Variety of Kale. This was one Thomas Jefferson’s favorite vegetables to grow in the Monticello Garden. Leaves are curled, long, and deep blue-green in color. Sweet and mild flavor is enhanced as the temperature drops.

Crisp and tender, Kale is nutritious and delicious. A SUPERFOOD, Kale is loaded with nutrients. Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate, Calcium, and much more!

Expect Kale Plants to reach a height of 1.5 to 3 feet and a width of 1 to 3 feet. When harvesting Kale, make sure not to harvest any more than 1/3 of the plant at one time (harvest outer, older leaves first). This will keep the plant stress-free, vibrant and vigorously growing. Kale thrives between the temperatures of 40 degrees and 80 degrees. It is frost tolerant, surviving temperatures as low as 25 degrees.
