Brussels Sprouts have two growing seasons in Georgia. The Spring Season, where Brussels Sprouts are started in Late Winter/Early Spring and harvested into the Late Spring and Early Summer. The Fall Season, where Brussels Sprouts are started in Summer/Late Summer and harvested into the Early Winter.
Brussels Sprouts thrives between the temperatures of 40 degrees and 75 degrees. It is frost tolerant, surviving temperatures as low as 25 degrees.
Long Island Improved Brussels Sprouts are an heirloom variety that thrive in the Georgia Garden! Brussels Sprouts have been harvested for well over 400 years in Europe and come loaded with nutrients. Warm weather can cause the Sprouts to open up and become softer (they will still be delicious and nutritious). Cooler Weather (temperatures below 70 degrees) will help the sprouts to stay closed and remain tight (as they appear in the grocery store).
